Eat Well, Live Better

The Eat Well, Live Better program is offered by our Dietitians and our Mental Health Nurse.

We make over 200 food-related choices every day.  This program is for you if you would like to further develop healthy living behaviours and skills in a peer support group format.

What the Eat Well, Live Better Program has to offer:

The Eat Well, Live Better Program is facilitated by a registered dietitian and a mental health nurse. Topics addressed over the 4-week program include.

  • Our Eating Environment, Mindful Eating & Being Active
  • Nutrition 101 & Meal Planning
  • Supermarket Savvy & (Virtual) Grocery Store Label Reading Tour
  • Making Lifestyle Changes Stick

When it’s offered:

The sessions are provided from 9:00am to 11:00am on ZOOM

The risks that COVID-19 present means that the majority of of visits have and will continue to be done virtually either over the phone or using a video visit, whenever possible.

During the COVID-19 pandemic our Eat Well, Live Better group will be offered virtually using the Zoom platform. For participation in this group a device (computer, phone, tablet) with audio and video capability are required.

Dietitian Consultations

Our Registered Dietitians offer one-on-one appointments to provide nutrition advice for our patients.

ABOUT THIS SERVICE:

Registered Dietitians provide education, advice, and counselling about food and nutrition. They play a role in health promotion, life cycle nutrition, chronic disease management and prevention…and so much more!

How to get involved:

You can access our dietitian services by speaking to your Family Doctor or one of the support staff that works in the Family Health Team.

Mindful Eating Program

The Mindful Eating Program is a 6-week group program facilitated by a Social Worker and Registered Dietitian.

Do you struggle with powerful food cravings?
Do you eat to cope with your emotions? (feeling sad, stressed, lonely, bored)
Are you frustrated by diets that just don’t work?

If you answered yes to any of these questions,  the Mindful Eating Group may help!

What our Mindful Eating Group has to offer:

In this 6-week group you will learn:

  • about the benefits of mindfulness and how to practice mindful eating
  • how to become more in tune with your body and learn to respond to your natural cues
  • powerful skills that can help you manage even your toughest food cravings
  • to find balance and heal your relationship with food

Please note in this group we will not be focusing on specific nutrition advice, also please note this is not a treatment program for Binge Eating Disorder.

When it’s offered:

The sessions are provided from 10:30am to 12:00pm on ZOOM.

We have PAUSED FURTHER REGISTRATION REQUESTS at this time as we work through the wait list for our next 2021 Mindful Eating groups.

How to get involved:

Before you register please note this program is 6 weeks long, please check your calendar and make sure you can attend all 6 sessions.  Space is limited.

This program focuses on behavior changes, change requires action.  Reflect if this is a good time for you to take this program and if you have the time to practice the concepts learned in the sessions each week.

Patients who are successfully registered for the group have are contacted directly via e-mail to complete our electronic consent form before the group and will be sent the official Zoom link to access the group classes as well as information about how to access our weekly group handouts.

**We have PAUSED FURTHER REGISTRATION REQUESTS FOR MINDFUL EATING at this time due to volume of demand.
